CatDogfished by America's Fact-Checking Sweetheart

Ryan and Cap are joined by a storied figure in our podcast history, Maurice, who is fit to join any adventuring party of 4th level in need of a rapscallion, scalliwag, or any other sort of nautical ne'e'r-do-well. This episode hits the ground with Questionable Headlines, discussing a controversial gift the Russian government gave to symbolize its thanks. Then they try to spot a scammer with a sus looking Taylor Tomlinson account. Then they examine an archaeological claim Ryan found on a half-baked like-farm history Facebook page, and they really dig into Roman taxes and social welfare programs in a totally brisk way. Facebook also yielded a 1200 year old Viking turd, which Ryan tops with a T-Rex turd... but maybe they wouldn't have been competitive, maybe they would have been friends. Everyone's seen How to Train a Dragon. Maurice flexes his mental muscles and proves that he has always been and will always be the undisputed king of fact checking when he tackles the romanticization of Pirates in the 17th and 18th Centuries, and which current scourges will win praise when Chat GPT summarizes all of human history for a group of teens marching towards the battery farms in a hundred years.
